The Life of a Challenge from Beginning to End:

What you should know about the process of bringing fiber art to the public eye.

A challenge begins by finding an artist that can volunteer their time to come up with an idea that will be of interest not only to the artists themselves but also to the venues and the public.

The idea is born, the challenge begins. The rules are defined and typed up and also posted online.

A signup sheet is developed and uploaded online. Entry forms are then submitted and an Excel file must them be started to track all those who sign up for the challenge. All info must be entered for documentation purposes because nonprofits are required to keep extensive documentation of everything they do.

The participants begin the process of creating the art. While you are busy creating, we are busy keeping the current challenge quilts that we have, usually 2 different challenges at a time, going from venue to venue, preparing the proper paperwork for the quilts to travel , enlisting help to hang local shows .

We also work on finding new venues for the work we have that fit into the calendar of time available for them.

Some of the larger well-known venues will pay to have the quilts shipped to them and still many other smaller ones cannot.

This is what is going on while we are all busy creating our art. We alsohave to keep the website current with the info everyone needs to participate in these events.
There are always links on the front page to all of the info you need to be in a challenge or competition, and information where the quilts are going to be showing for particular exhibits. (this can be found under the events tab on the site www.fiberartsconnsocal.org.
I create websites for artists, to benefit those who would like a web presence at an affordable cost and also to provide income to Fiberarts Connection of Southern California. The $25 donation for a year of web presence is donated to Fiberarts Connection, not paid to me.
